“You can’t get funding,” said David Morris, a wind energy expert and vice president of the Institute for Local Self-Reliance in Minneapolis. “The credit crunch is hurting everyone, including the renewables.”"
Congress recently renewed the wind production tax credit, which was set to expire this year. The tax credit, part of the $700 billion bailout bill passed earlier this month, supplies 2.1 cents per kilowatt hour for wind energy and will extend through 2009. But so far, it hasn’t appeared to have helped.

These new LCDs employ a more traditional, transmissive mode, using backlighting in darker or indoor settings, but are also capable of utilizing a reflective mode, which can harness bright sources such as sunlight to increase clarity. The reflective mode not only increases visibility on the screen, but also reduces the need for backlighting, thus conserving power.

GE boosts bets on battery technology | Green Tech - CNET News
GE is looking to work with Chrysler on a Department of Energy-sponsored research project for a battery-powered passenger car, Little said. The project, which has not yet been finalized, will involve using different types of batteries in a vehicle. GE is investing in further development of its sodium-metal chloride batteries, now used in train locomotives.
Last week, GE upped its investment in lithium-ion maker A123 Systems, injecting another $30 million in the company. GE is working with A123 Systems in integrating its batteries into the all-electric Think town car and a hybrid bus platform.
Both GE and A123 Systems are developing storage for power grid operators. Integrating several hours of storage on the grid would allow utilities to use the distribution network more efficiently and integrate intermittent wind and solar energy more.

Wind farms may pose risk to shipping - Telegraph
They claim that diverting large cargo ships and tankers around wind farms will lead to an increase in carbon dioxide emissions from heavy shipping, which would cancel out much of the carbon dioxide savings wind farms are intended to deliver.
There is also research that suggests such large structures cause interference to ships' radar, making it hard to spot other craft."
