Solar panels in the Sahara 'could power the whole of Europe' - Times Online
Solar panels in the Sahara 'could power the whole of Europe' - Times Online: "Technological advances combined with falling costs have made it realistic to consider North Africa as Europe’s main source of imported energy. By harnessing the power of the Sun, possibly in tandem with wind farms along the North African coastline, Europe could easily meet its 2020 target of generating at least 20 per cent of its energy from renewable sources."

Building a better battery with instant charging and discharging
Building a better battery - Cosmic Log - msnbc.com: "Ceder and Kang found a way to cook the surface of the LiFePO4 material into a glassy structure that let the ions move around quickly, as if they were traveling on a beltway that bypassed surface streets. That sped the ions toward the tunnels and increased the charge/discharge rate by a factor of about 100. The researchers built a small test battery in the lab that usually needed six minutes for a full charge or discharge. When the material was tweaked, that time was cut to 10 or 20 seconds."

Saltwater Power Could Supply Energy for Most Dutch Homes : EcoWorldly
Saltwater Power Could Supply Energy for Most Dutch Homes : EcoWorldly: "Just as it takes huge amounts of energy to desalinate water, energy is generated when the reverse happens, and saltwater is added to freshwater."
Rocks Found That Could Store Greenhouse Gas | LiveScience
Rocks Found That Could Store Greenhouse Gas | LiveScience: "Originating deep in the earth, these rocks contain minerals that react naturally with carbon dioxide to form solid minerals, a process called mineral carbonation that could make for an ideal storage mechanism."
Soils Enriched With Calcium to Trap Carbon Gas as Calcium Carbonate
t r u t h o u t | Soils Enriched With Calcium to Trap Carbon Gas: "In most soils, that carbon returns to the atmosphere. But in calcium-rich soil, the acid, which contains carbon, reacts with the calcium by forming calcium carbonate deposits around the roots. Isotopic analyses have shown that this carbon-trapping is significant: it could reach 150 kg [330 lbs.] per year per hectare in a field of wheat."

High-tech Modelling for Low-Tech Passive Solar Homes with Trombe Walls
High-tech Modelling for Low-Tech Passive Solar : TreeHugger: "They used this information to design thirteen Trombe walls (which use the sun to heat a small air space between a glass wall and a heavy-mass wall such as concrete. The trapped heat is then transferred into the building, either indirectly through the concrete or, as is the case with the Destination Center, directly through vents.)"
